As a little pushback to these fluid boundaries, the original Brookhaven designated itself “Historic Brookhaven.”

Anchored by the Capital City Club’s golf course in the center, the boundaries of Historic Brookhaven are from Peachtree Rd. to the south, Peachtree Dunwoody Rd. on the west, Windsor Parkway to the north and Mabry Dr. to the east. The folks in Historic Brookhaven pushed back a little harder, when it comes to protecting the “Historic Brookhaven” brand, during the 2012 Georgia Legislative Session. Many unincorporated areas in North Metro Atlanta have been incorporating into cities. Part of the “general Brookhaven area” is in Fulton County / Atlanta and part is in Dekalb County, which is unincorporated. The county line goes right through the Historic Brookhaven community. There has been a movement to incorporate the DeKalb side into the “Town of Brookhaven.” The proposed city’s boundaries would go well beyond Historic Brookhaven’s boundaries.

The folks in Historic Brookhaven didn’t like the name, because they feel the ever expanding Brookhaven boundaries reduces the cache of the original Historic Brookhaven. The Historic Brookhaven real estate is valued much higher than all of the surrounding neighborhoods. So, the original name proposed in the Legislature was the “Town of Ashford,” which surprised a lot of people. The name has been changed back to the “Town of Brookhaven,” but it was humorous to watch the two sides work the Legislature over the naming rights of Brookhaven.

Druid Hills contains Emory University. It was designed, along with its parks, by famous landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted. Some of the scenes from Driving Miss Daisy were shot in Druid Hills, due to the luxurious and historic nature of the homes. Specifically, 822 Lullwater Road, was the main home in the movie.

Where is Atlanta located?

It seems like a ridiculous question for someone who lives in Atlanta. But, perhaps you live in a different country – or a part of this Country that feels like a different country. If you’re being relocated to Atlanta, maybe you don’t really know where it’s located.

Atlanta is located in the Southeastern part of the United States. It’s officially the Capitol of Georgia, but is unofficially considered the Capitol of the South. Major companies such as Coca-Cola, Delta, Home Depot and UPS are headquartered in Atlanta.

Since Atlanta is a hotbed of economic activity there are is a constant flow of people relocating to local neighborhoods and towns like Buckhead, Virginia Highland, Vinings, Sandy Springs and Roswell. People, like myself, who are natives to the area are in the minority. Often, when I travel, and meet other people, I’ll be asked, “Where is Buckhead Atlanta?“

Our airport, Hartsfield Jackson, is one of the busiest in the world. You can catch a direct flight almost anywhere.

I’ve successfully worked with a lot folks relocating to Atlanta. My role as your relocation agent doesn’t end at the home closing. Here is an updated list of the Morningside homes for sale in Atlanta. Morningside Atlanta is sort of the sister neighborhood to Virginia Highland. Many folks, who don’t live in the area, assume Morningside is part of Virginia Highland, but it’s not, they are two separate areas with distinct shopping districts. Morningside is a little more isolated from Virginia Highland’s entertainment district.

I’ve had past clients ask me about Atlanta neighborhoods where shopping is walking distance – Morningside and Virginia Highland always come to mind.

It’s a designated Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. Ansley Park is a great touring neighborhood with many historic homes. The neighborhood was the former location of the Georgia Governor’s mansion. Unfortunately, the mansion was in such disrepair, it was torn-down. The fact Ansley Park housed 11 Georgia Governors is a testament to its magnificence. Ansley Park real estate has always been desirable.

The park has an outdoor amphitheater, softball; baseball; and soccer fields, tennis courts, a playground for children, golf course, horse park, and picnic areas. The golf course is consistently rated as one of Atlanta’s top municipal golf courses. It’s formally known as the North Fulton Golf Course, but everyone calls it Chastain golf course.

The Chastain outdoor amphitheater is a great place to catch a musical show. You can bring your own picnic basket with food and wine for the show. Some folks can get really elaborate with their setups, brining silver candlestick holders and the works. Many prominent and internationally known musicians frequent Chastain, such as: James Taylor, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris and Melissa Etheridge.
