Tuxedo Park

Tuxedo Park is one Buckhead’s most prestigious neighborhoods. The homes are some of the most magnificent in Atlanta. Many are designed by some of the most renowned architects, such as Philip Shutze and Neel Reid, and more recently Bill Baker and William Harrison.

Kingswood Neighborhood in Buckhead

Kingswood is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Buckhead.  Located right off of West Paces Ferry Road, it’s an idyllic place.  The entire subdivision, is “culdusaced”, which really cuts down on the traffic.  Be careful when you drive through, more than likely there will be kids riding their bikes and people walking their dogs.
Here are [...]

Streets of Buckhead Update

There is a lot of curiosity about the Streets of Buckhead project. Each time I write an article about it, the web traffic to this website spikes.
The AJC gave an update on the Streets of Buckhead today. In short, the project needs $200 million to resume construction.
Streets of Buckhead developer Ben Carter said [...]

Buckhead Community

Buckhead is Atlanta’s most prestigious and exclusive neighborhood. It is known by most Atlanta natives as the “Beverly Hills of the South.” Located approximately 15 miles north of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport you will find the Buckhead community with gorgeous homes situated on lush, well manicured properties. The torch of [...]

Atlanta Playgrounds and Parks for Children

As a mother of a young child living in Buckhead, it took me a little time to find the best playgrounds for children in Atlanta. Most of my friends had their first babies all around the same time, so we were constantly comparing notes on the best recreational activities for children in Atlanta, Georgia. [...]

Atlanta History Center

Located in Buckhead, on West Paces Ferry Road, is the Atlanta History Center. We have a family membership and really like everything the museum has to offer.
It has extensive exhibits on Civil War history and Atlanta history. The major permanent exhibit, “Metropolitan Frontiers: Atlanta, 1835-2000,” traces Atlanta’s history from the days of the [...]

Good news for Streets of Buckhead

I reported a couple of months ago that construction at the Streets of Buckhead had ground to a halt. Well we should see the cranes swinging through the Buckhead skyline starting again in July. Ben Carter, the developer of the project, apparently stopped the construction to renegotiate contracts for labor and materials during [...]

A great Sandy Springs sandwich shop

I had a great casual lunch with my family today at a deli in Sandy Springs. The restaurant is called R/J Casuals and it’s in a strip mall at 8540 Roswell Road. It’s right next door to where the old Diggers sports bar used to be.
The strip mall and deli are very nondescript. [...]

Update on Buckhead foreclosure

We are still going through renovations at our home. We closed on a Buckhead bank owned property April 9th and things are going a little slower than anticipated. The biggest unanticipated expense was the family of rodents living in our attic. The home was vacant for 12 months so there is nothing [...]
