I reported a couple of months ago that construction at the Streets of Buckhead had ground to a halt. Well we should see the cranes swinging through the Buckhead skyline starting again in July. Ben Carter, the developer of the project, apparently stopped the construction to renegotiate contracts for labor and materials during this down economy. He said he was successful in getting at least $10 million in concessions.
There are plenty of super, high-end stores and restaurants committed to the project. Check out this post for plans on this Buckhead area development. I’m very excited about the Streets of Buckhead and believe it will secure Buckhead’s reputation as the South’s premium shopping, entertainment and dining destination.

I don’t know if that’s “good news for the Streets of Buckhead” project, but it was probably an oversight. I’ve written about some of the problmes in the past.
Am pleased to see that the streetsofbuckhead.com website is now back up. Also note in yesterdays Atlanta Journel constitution the confirmation from Ben Carter that construction will resume in September 2009 with completion of the first phase of the Streets of Buckhead due in October 2010.
I wish the Streets of Buckhead all the best of success and believe it will be a substantial asset for Buckhead and for the whole of Atlanta.
While nothing in this Atlanta real estate market would surprise me, I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Streets of Buckhead. Although the projects had been delayed, as you mentioned, it’s supposed to start back up in late 2009.
