You can view the February Metro Atlanta housing reports on my blog. The Metro Atlanta sales averages are significantly down from this point last year. When looking at the reports remember that Buckhead is area 21, Dunwoody is 121 and Sandy Springs is 131 and 132. Also, be sure to notice the reports are differentiated by new construction and resales.
The summary letter is here and the detailed numbers are here.
The Buckhead and North Atlanta markets are doing better than all of Metro Atlanta, although there are some great deals everywhere. Some metro counties on the south side are having a very difficult time. As Steve Palm of Smart Numbers stated:
How dramatic have been the price drops? The median closed price for Clayton County for 2009 is $37,150 or a drop of 67% from the same period in 2007. When comparing Clayton County, which has had many foreclosures, to a county that has not, Forsyth County, the trend is still down, but not as much.
On a positive note, Mr. Palm expects an increase in Metro Atlanta home resales by this summer.
